Autumn is a popular time of year, what with all the Pumpkin Spice Lattes, gorgeous scenery and, of course, Thanksgiving. Who doesn't love a holiday dedicated to stuffing your face with food? For all our girls out there, though, you know that fall is also the one time of year when you actually want to spend time on your outfit. Maybe it's the absolutely perfect weather or the fact that those red, orange and yellow leaves make an excellent backdrop for your Instagram selfie. Either way, if you're excited to start dressing up a little then keep reading for some Pinterest-worthy ways to accessorize.
1. Build a collection of scarves
You can never have too many scarves! Sad, but true. Fall is the perfect time of year to take advantage of your huge scarf collection gathered from Christmases past. It also never hurts to add to this collection because, honestly, scarves are the holy grail of autumn fashion (and you don't have to be a fashionista to take advantage). If you still haven't stored away your casual tshirts from the summer, don't yet. Until it really gets cold out, you can throw on one of those tshirts with a scarf and jacket for a complete look that saves time in the morning (say hello to more time for a PSL). Oh and, by the way, this really can be dressed up or down based on what jacket you choose. If you're just running some errands, opt for a casual army jacket. If you're heading to work, put on that blazer.

2. Find the perfect knee-length and ankle boots
Knee-length and ankle boots are both so cute for the fall..but you don't need to spend money on getting tons of pairs. We suggest finding one pair of knee-length boots that you love and one pair of ankle boots. Try to find ones that are a little on the plain side so that they will match as many outfits as possible. Go Jane has an awesome collection of boots for under $100. Once you've found your go-to pair, the options are endless! Knee-length boots look especially great if you're wearing leggings (don't forget the long boot socks) or with a long-sleeved dress, and ankle boots stand out best if you've got on a pair of skinny jeans. Side bonus: boots make going outside on a rainy day a little more bearable!

3. Stack bracelets with a watch
Autumn is all about LAYERING, and one of our favorite ways to do this is by stacking bracelets with a watch. Our perfect combination? A Vahan bracelet + a rose gold Bulova watch + a neutral colored Endless bracelet. There is no perfect look, so have fun with stacking your bracelets! Try to pick a focus piece (probably the watch) and build with less intense pieces around it. Finish off the look by painting your nails with a rich fall color, like maroon, nude, or gray. You can find more nail ideas here!

4. Switch to a casual leather bag
For the perfect pair to your leather boots, find a leather bag with gold accents to really round out your fall look. In keeping with the relaxed atmosphere of autumn, search for a bag with not too much structure--the more relaxed the bag, the more relaxed you will look. We especially love this Mellow World Jasmine convertible sachel from Kohl's. Be smart when shopping for your autumn handbag...you don't have to spend tons of money on a designer bag! Focus on finding something that fits your personality and is functional (pockets and zippers are nice for organization).

5. Layer long necklaces
Here we go with layering again! But seriously, layering is key for fall. Gabriel & Co. has some BEAUTIFUL long necklaces, and some are even designed to fit together perfectly. We have a large collection of these, and they are some of our favorite pieces to try on because they just look so simple and gorgeous at the same time. When layering necklaces, ideally you should have one piece that falls just below your collar bone, one below your cleavage and one in the middle of your stomach area. Of course, this is just a guide and is up to interpretation. You can even wear your really long necklaces with a scarf! (Sorry, our love for scarves is too real.)

6. Top it off with a wide-brimmed hat
Now, let's be honest. A large majority of us don't feel like we can really pull off hats. You know what we think? Who cares!? Don't stop yourself from buying that adorable wide-brimmed hat just because you are too intimidated to wear it. Our guess is that you'll actually look amazing in it, and it'll make you stand out in a good way! Hats like the one below are great for days when you just don't feel like doing much to your hair and/or makeup. They take away the attention from these other areas so you still look polished enough for work. So while others are too afraid to actually buy the hat, you walk out of that store rocking it!
