The holiday season is officially here, and we couldn’t be happier. No matter what holiday your family celebrates, it seems like this time of year is full of magic and sparkle. As your resident sparkle experts, you know we love everything about this season!
In fact, we love everything about December so much that we rounded up our staff to share a few of our favorite things.
Looking for your food soul sister? Sam’s your girl! For the past 40 years, her family has made these precious wreath treats. Using cornflakes, butter, marshmallows and green food coloring with little red hot candies, Sam’s mom makes sure all of her children get a box no matter where they are.

We also love shopping at our local stores to make our holiday feast one to remember. Nick’s Of Calvert, our neighbor in Prince Frederick, is a great place to get all the necessities for your feast. And no matter what kind of meat you’re serving, Bowen’s Grocery has a great selection. Keeping it local is one way we love to make spirits bright.
There is so much to do in Southern Maryland during the holiday season. One of the holiday favorites our staff named over and over again was going to see Annmarie Garden In Lights. This holiday spectacular transforms the sculpture garden in the woods into a twinkling wonderland. There’s even nightly entertainment with musical guests. Sipping hot chocolate and walking through the garden definitely puts us in the holiday spirit.

Speaking of hot chocolate, did you know that Nya is a huge fan? She loves putting up a Christmas tree with her family and drinking hot chocolate with snowman marshmallows. This must be the perfect way to get in the holiday spirit considering Nya is the Wish List Fairy!
We also love the unique take on Christmas that happens every year in North Beach. On December 7, North Beach has a Christmas market before everyone flocks to the boardwalk to see the holiday parade. Afterward, kids can visit jolly old St. Nicholas and share their wishlists on the sand. Where else can you meet Santa and Mrs. Claus on the beach? This is such a special event that really gets us in the mood for the holiday season.
Feeling especially adventurous? Hop in the car (or hire a limo if you’re feeling super fancy!) and drive down to Baltimore to see the Miracle on 34th Street. No, not the movie: the miracle here is an awe-inspiring light display that spans an entire city block. Each of the houses on 34th Street between Keswick Road and Chestnut Avenue goes all out for the holiday season with lights, music, train displays, inflatables, and the most creative Christmas trees you’ll ever see.

Well...the trees might be the most creative, but they’re definitely not the most loved! That honor goes to one of our own. Veronica is obsessed with Christmas trees and has three trees every year. Each tree has its own special theme. From silver and glitter (what else do you expect from a jewelry store specialist?!) to sentimental favorites collected over the years, Veronica is always on the hunt for new ornaments to add to her trees.
We might be biased, but we truly believe that we serve the best community in the world. That’s why we’re super proud of employees like Arielle, whose family passes out gift bags on Christmas to the nurses on duty at the hospital near her grandmother’s house. Supporting Southern Maryland is so important to us. Whether you collect donations for the Calvert Humane Society or purchase Toys for Tots, we hope you make supporting your community an important part of your holiday season.
We believe that life is meant to sparkle just as much as your holiday season! Whether you need a gift for a friend or a quick refresh for your work party, Dickinson Jewelers wants to help make this holiday season one to remember. We hope you’ll come visit us in Dunkirk or Prince Frederick - you never know; you just might catch the Wish List Fairy in the act!
