The weather is cooling down, and we’ve got our PSLs (pumpkin spice lattes, for the uninitiated) in hand. It’s officially time to dig out those sweaters, boots, and necklaces. That’s right: sweaters aren’t the only thing we’ll be layering this fall! We’re absolutely obsessed with the layered necklace look.

Vary your necklace lengths
The key to a successful necklace stack is making sure that each piece has its own spot. You don’t want your beautiful pieces competing for attention!
We love starting our layering with a choker. The 90s are back in a big way, but you don’t have to resort to those black plastic monstrosities. We’re seeing a lot of natural elements in jewelry trends this year, so this brown leather choker is a stylish update.
Next, you want a necklace that reaches to about your collarbone. You’re looking for a piece with a 16- or 18-inch chain here. The style of it is totally up to you! It can be something similar to your choker, or you can go in a completely different direction. We like this Shy Creation necklace - although the jewelry style is completely different, the star pendant lends itself well to all sorts of stacks.
The number of necklaces you can layer is really endless. If you’re looking for multiple necklaces, consider a 24-inch chain - which hits about mid-chest - as well as a 30- or 33-inch chain, which falls to about your waist. Honestly, the sky’s the limit here. By varying the necklace lengths, you’re keeping the jewelry from competing with each other and looking clunky.
