Has the spring cleaning bug hit your house? At Dickinson Jewelers, we’re incredibly familiar with the urge to organize, clean, and generally tidy up. But did you know that we can help you with your own spring cleaning?
Sadly, we don’t offer maid service. However, we offer a jewelry box consultation that can help you make informed decisions about jewelry you might not be wearing very often or that you have inherited.
A jewelry box consultation is very similar to our gold, silver, and gemstone buying process. You bring in the jewelry you’d like evaluated, and we take a look. Then, we have a conversation with you about what we see and good next steps. You can be confident that you’ll be treated fairly. As Southern Maryland’s most trusted jeweler, we have been serving our community for over 60 years, and our team is trained to help you understand the value of your items.
Why might you be interested in a jewelry box consultation? First, we can help you determine the approximate value of each piece. We can separate costume jewelry from fine jewelry to help you make informed decisions. This is especially helpful if you are looking to divide jewelry evenly between multiple people or if you are doing estate planning.
We also love to help our customers turn their jewelry box into their favorite part of their wardrobe! If you have a piece of jewelry you no longer wear, we’d love to talk with you about why. If it’s broken, we can evaluate if we’re able to fix it so you can add it back into your rotation. If it’s just not your style, we would be happy to help you find jewelry to trade for or to help you come up with ideas for repurposing jewelry. One of our favorite jobs is helping you incorporate gems you own into new pieces, breathing new life into your jewelry.

Even people who aren’t looking to downsize can benefit from jewelry box consultations! We can help you inventory your jewelry to make decisions about what the next logical pieces of jewelry to purchase would be.
If you do decide to sell your jewelry, our buying process is very straightforward. You can bring in any jewelry you have for us to consider buying. We buy silver and gold, loose and mounted diamonds as well as antique jewelry. If you’re not sure what you have, that’s okay! Our team can easily test and evaluate your items. On occasion, for larger diamonds, the owner will need to be consulted so we may ask you to make an appointment or you’re welcome to leave it for examination.
Once the value is determined, our team member will let you know two values:
CASH value: This is what we can pay you if you want to sell your items outright for cash.
TRADE-IN value: We can offer you more if you decide to trade your items in toward new jewelry, a custom design, jewelry/watch repair, or a store credit to use later.
Once you hear the two offers for your items, you decide what you want to do. We pay extremely competitive prices. There is no obligation to sell; we want you to feel comfortable. If you decide you want to sell your items, your driver's license is required.
Whether you’re ready to sell some underutilized pieces or you’d like help understanding the value of your current jewelry, Dickinson Jewelers would love to help you! Stop by our Dunkirk or Prince Frederick stores with your jewelry box, and we’ll get to work helping you love your collection.
