At our Million Dollar Diamond event on April 22 and 23, we’ll have more than a million dollars’ worth of loose diamonds available. By making a one-on-one appointment, you’ll be able to get incredible personalized attention from our jewelry stylists. Whether you’re looking for your first diamond ever, a diamond for a special occasion, or for an engagement ring, we can help you find the perfect match.
For the first time ever, we’ll be highlighting both lab-grown and earth-mined diamonds. Earth-mined diamonds are the ones you’re used to hearing back. They’re formed under intense pressure and mined from underground.
Lab-grown diamonds are also formed under intense pressure because they’re real diamonds! Unlike imitation products such as cubic zirconia, lab-grown diamonds are chemically identical to earth-mined diamonds. Rather than being formed underground, these carbon pieces are created in a lab that simulates that level of pressure and temperature you’d find with earth-mined diamonds. This is called the HPHT process. For the record, the amount of pressure is about equal to the amount of pressure you’d feel trying to balance a jet plane on your fingertip - yikes!
According to the Gemological Institute of America, differences between the two types of diamonds cannot be seen with the naked eye, and only minor differences between crystal growth can be seen with specialized instruments. We’re super excited to introduce you to lab-grown diamonds if you haven’t seen them before. Seeing is really believing here!
