If you’re anything like the average person, you associate Tucson, Arizona with...a whole lot of nothing. Maybe some tumbleweeds or an obscure lyric to The Beatles’ “Get Back” pop into your brain, but generally, we here in Calvert County pretty much think of Tucson as a bunch of cacti.
Unless, of course, you’re our owner Claude Dickinson. Then, you associate Tucson with dreams comes true. Claude and Kathy are currently attending the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, an experience Claude described as a lifelong goal.
Now, we know Claude is a bit of a gem nerd (what, you don’t spend your free time pursuing the most rigorous gem certification in the world?), but we have to admit that this show truly is something special.
Described as being part gem and mineral show, part museum exhibition, the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show is the largest and oldest show of its type worldwide. Past shows have allowed attendees to get up close and personal with Faberge eggs and 423-carat sapphires. The exhibition also boasts educational sessions and fun after-hours events.
But that’s not why Dickinson Jewelers is there. Nope, Claude has been dreaming about going to Tucson for one reason: to bring back the world’s best gems to the world’s best customers. For decades, the Dickinsons have been going to Antwerp, Belgium to provide customers with the highest quality diamonds. Now, we are thrilled to be scoping out gorgeous gems to set hearts aflutter.
This year’s Tucson Gem and Mineral Show features vendors from all over the world. From Moscow to Bogota, from Kenya to Spain to Pakistan and back again, everybody who’s anybody will be at this show.
