Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at Dickinson Jewelers? We’ve been highlighting on Instagram some of the fun we have, like snowball fights and birthday celebrations.

This week on the blog, we wanted to take you behind the scenes into one of our most important departments: the repair room!
Did you know that both of our Dickinson Jewelers locations offer repair services? Our jewelers work on the premises of our Dunkirk and Prince Frederick stores to ensure maximum safety for your precious pieces. Our jewelers are INCREDIBLE and can do just about anything! Whether you need a traditional repair, resizing, engraving, inspection, or even need your pearls restrung, our amazing jewelers have you covered.
Today, we want to introduce you to our team of jewelers and highlight some of the ways they can help you.
This is Chason, our outdoor boating/hunting/fishing enthusiast and one of the awesome jewelers behind the bench.

Chason, along with our other jewelers, can help you with traditional repairs. Some of the more common repairs we see are soldering charms, repairing chains, prong retipping, and sizing rings. One of the services we’re proudest of is our “check, tighten, clean, and polish” check, where we inspect jewelry for loose stones, polish and clean the piece, and actually even redo the rhodium finish on white gold so your pieces come back looking brand new.
Claude Dickinson, Jr — better known to us all as Mr. D — is the founder of Dickinson Jewelers. We’re beyond fortunate that Mr. D lends his expertise to us because he’s one of the best in the business!

Watch repair is something Dickinson Jewelers has been helping with from the very beginning. Our jewelers can figure out exactly what’s wrong with your watch and get you taken care of. Whether you need a new battery, crystal, or band, or if your repair is more intricate, our jewelers can keep you ticking.
If you’ve met Claude Dickinson III, you know that a passion for jewelry definitely runs in the family. Claude is our owner as well as a master jeweler and graduate gemologist. And hey — fun fact! Did you know that Claude lived in Switzerland and speaks German?

Speaking of things that run in the family, our jewelers are incredible at antique jewelry restoration. If you inherit a piece that could use a little TLC, we can easily take care of that for you. Something we absolutely love doing, though, is turning an heirloom into another piece of jewelry. We can convert cuff links into earrings, pins into bracelets, and so much more. Our jewelers love working with you to show off these priceless pieces. This recent example is from one of our sweet customers, Katie. She brought in her father’s ring, and we turned it into this pendant that she now wears close to her heart.

Sam is another critical part of our repair team. She’s an amazing artist who draws and paints for fun, and we definitely see those art skills on the bench!

Sam, like all of our jewelers, uses the most up-to-date equipment and technology. One way we incorporate that is through the use of CAD, our design software. We use this to render custom designs right in front of your eyes. We can design just about anything you can imagine! One speciality is designing the engagement ring of your dreams, which is exactly what Claude is helping customer Gordon do in this picture!

Our repair bench just wouldn’t be complete without Josh! Josh helps out with the repairs we’ve highlighted already.

One last service that we offer is resetting stones. If you have a gem in a piece of jewelry and find it’s just not getting enough wear, our jewelers can help you find the perfect setting that you’ll love showing off.
Josh, Sam, Claude, Mr. D, and Chason are such an important part of everything we do here at Dickinson Jewelers! If you need a repair, redesign, or any of the other services we offer, we hope you’ll come meet them in Dunkirk and Prince Frederick. They can’t wait to help you!
