No, not clothing layers. As far as we’re concerned, our cardigans and winter coats can stay in the closet for a long, long time. We’re talking about jewelry layers!
One of the hottest trends in jewelry is layering jewelry; that is, wearing more than one piece at a time. We’ve seen everything from layering necklaces to stacking rings, and we are straight-up obsessed.
If you’re used to wearing one piece at a time, though, it can be overwhelming to know where to start layering. Do you just throw on every necklace that you love? Any bracelet that matches the general color scheme of your outfit? Luckily, we’re here with answers to all of those questions!
Layering necklaces
Something we love about the layering trend is that it’s hard to mess up! If you love the layer, it probably looks awesome. We do have two foolproof ways to start if you’re looking for inspiration.
One way is to simply vary the lengths of your necklaces. We love this look! Using different lengths of two similar necklaces is a great way to keep your look cohesive while still adding interest.
Have a statement piece that you’re dying to wear? You can definitely still layer! Consider that piece your base and add a few necklaces that are slightly longer and also are a different metal, texture, or shape. End with a significantly longer piece, and you’re in business!
Layering bracelets
This is probably the quickest way to hop on the layering train. Because bracelets are all roughly the same length, the starting point here is to pick a centerpiece. Which bracelet do you want to play off of? Once you’ve decided that, simply add two to three additional bracelets that are different widths or textures. You can even layer using your watch! This adds interest to your wrist that can’t be beat.
Layering rings
Fashionistas in the know call this trend “stacking rings,” and it is here to stay! You could argue that stacked rings ushered in the layering movement. Just like layering necklaces or bracelets, the key here is to pick one piece to play off of. When stacking, you want to consider what you want to be the same, and what you’re willing to change. Love the width of your ring? Add rings of a similar size but with different textures. Don’t feel like you have to stick to the same metal, either — silver and gold ring stacks are breathtaking!
