Get Red Carpet Ready

Lights, camera, action! The 2018 awards season has finally arrived, and we are here. for. it. We could spend days drooling over every aspect of the red carpet and dissecting every speech (is Oprah running for president?! What just happened?). It’s the ultimate escape for those of us waking up to yet another snow day.

From the Golden Globes to the SAG Awards to the Oscars and back again, we’re focusing on just one thing: jewelry trends. Sure, we know we’re supposed to care about “the acting” and “the quality of the movies,” but let’s be real: nothing, not even some golden statue, sparkles like a diamond. Here are just a few of the jewelry trends you can expect to see this year.

Statement bracelets

One interesting aspect of this awards season is that celebrities are really responding to allegations of sexual misconduct by major producers and actors. At the Golden Globes, they let their outfits do the talking by wearing all black. This monochromatic look often had a dramatic component: high necklines, low (and we mean low) necklines, thigh slits, and sequins were the attention grabbers.

This meant that celebrities turned to their wrists so their jewelry wasn’t competing with their high-interest dresses. Statement bracelets are huge this awards season. From blingy as all-get-out to large and in charge bangles, we’re seeing bracelets making themselves known.

The perennially perfect Reese Witherspoon wore this amazing Bulgari bracelet to the Golden Globes.

We’re also low-key obsessed with Saoirse Ronan’s eye-candy cuff.

Drop earrings

Celebrities will also be rocking drop earrings this season. Though diamond studs never go out of fashion, we predict you’ll be seeing a lot more earrings that dangle and set off celebrities’ faces.

Jessica Chastain’s gorgeous diamonds might be the only thing that can compete with her perfect hair.

Zoe Kravitz’s earrings are a throwback to 20s fashion. We love the pop of color!

Anklets

So 1999, am I right? The 90s are making a serious comeback, and this look is being ushered in by actresses who probably don’t remember the first go-around! Anklets were a total power look back in the 90s, and we predict they’ll make a strong showing this awards season. To be fair, the 2018 anklet look is decidedly more glam than your middle school purchases were.

Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven on Stranger Things, is pulling off not one but two anklets alongside her dazzling heels.

No matter your red carpet obsession, Dickinson Jewelers can make you feel like a celebrity on Oscar Night! Whether your heart is set on bracelets, earrings, anklets, or some other look you fell in love with, our jewelry stylists can help you be red carpet ready.
